When a contract review makes sense

Contracts are often signed because time is short and the wording looks standard. The problems usually lie not in the obvious points but in the provisions on liability, termination, automatic renewal or jurisdiction — the parts that only become relevant in a dispute.

A review is worthwhile whenever a contract creates a longer commitment, involves substantial sums or was drafted by the other side.

Typical situations

• You have been sent a draft contract and want to know what you are agreeing to
• A contract renews automatically and you want to get out of it
• The other side is relying on a clause you understood differently
• You are taking over an existing contract as part of an acquisition

How the review works

You send me the contract by email in advance. I read it, mark the critical passages and we discuss the result in a conversation of around 30 minutes. On request you also receive a written assessment with concrete wording proposals for renegotiation.

You will usually hear back from me within two to three working days. If a deadline is pressing, please tell me right away — we will find a way at short notice.

Costs

For standard contracts I work with the „Contract review compact“ package from €349 plus VAT. It includes the initial consultation, the review with a written assessment and a closing conversation. For extensive or multi-part contracts we agree the scope in advance so that you know the costs beforehand.
